These Hay Smoked Salmon Burgers are a unique and flavorful twist on traditional burgers. The hay imparts a subtle smoky aroma to the salmon, complemented by the spices and herbs. Served on crisp lettuce leaves with fresh tomato and red onion slices, these burgers are keto-friendly and bursting with flavor.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb fresh salmon fillet, skin removed
- 1/4 cup hay organic, pesticide-free
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 large lettuce leaves for serving
- 4 slices of tomato for serving
- 4 slices of red onion for serving
Instructions:
Prepare a grill for indirect heat and soak the hay in water for 30 minutes
Season the salmon fillet with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper
Spread the soaked hay over the indirect heat area of the grill
Place the seasoned salmon fillet on a grill grate over the hay
Close the grill lid and smoke the salmon for about 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through and slightly charred on the edges
Remove the salmon from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes
Using a fork, flake the smoked salmon into chunks and divide into 4 portions
Serve each portion of smoked salmon on a large lettuce leaf, topped with a slice of tomato and red onion
